- The Parley List isn't set up for controversial discussion or advocacy. And it is probably unnecessary to say that The Parley List is a "no-flame" and no spam list. We request that you err on the side of courtesy or silence in your reponses to the whole. If you have a concern about a posting, please do advise the moderators. If a controversial or lengthy discussion arises, the moderators will invite relevant participants continue their discussion through e-mail off-line. The moderators will at their discretion and without notice remove people's posting privileges those who persist in sending posts that the moderators, in their absolute discretion, find to be off-topic, provocative of controversy, discourteous in words or tone, self-promotional, repetitive, misleading, inflammatory or unethical.
- Please, no advertising or marketing of your services, books or goods on The Parley List. Notices of interesting events are always welcome, however, the moderators will at their discretion and without notice remove from the list a member who posts self-promotional material about services, books or goods. Signatures that go beyond name, contact info or web URL, etc, and which contain advertisements or plugs about books or services often are often viewed by other list members as irritating. Do feel free to send information about your books, training events, etc. to the Peacemakers Trust bulletin board.
- Please seek permission before copying or forwarding another person's postings unless they are clearly announcements meant to be circulated. When in doubt, please consult with the sender. However, the moderators have no control over this, and we are unable to take responsibility for what individuals may do without our prior knowledge or consent. A word to the wise is in order: avoid posting or forwarding anything that is not yours to post, or that you might be unhappy to see attributed to you on the front page of a newspaper.
- Please make sure you have up-to-date virus protection. A good rule of thumb is to update daily. Here are some resources for you to consider:
- AVG Anti-virus by Grisoft. Many computer technicians are now recommending the free edition of AVG Anti-Virus. It has regular automatic updates.
- Please make sure you have up-to-date virus protection, spyware and malware. It is recommended to run and update daily.
- Hoax chain letters and virus warnings are still a problem on the internet. It's a good rule of thumb not to pass along warnings or chain letters generally. For a good site about viruses, see the Symantec site. For a site that lists hoaxes, see the site about urban legends and folklore on the internet.
- If you have questions or concerns about particular postings or the list itself, please contact the Parley list administrator
