What is the Peacemakers' Round Table?

The Peacemakers' Round Table was formed by Peacemakers Trust in July, 2008, as an emerging network of persons interested in discussions and exchanges of views about conflict transformation or peacebuilding anywhere in the world.

• The Round Table welcomes all interested members of the community including students, scholars, mediators, facilitators, humanitarian aid or development workers, human rights workers, ombudspersons, peaceworkers, community workers, educators, journalists, artists and others.
• Some Round Table participants are actively involved in work of Peacemakers Trust such as our directors, consulting directors, project and event partners, supporters, and other colleagues and friends or new friends interested in the new Peacemakers' Round Table.
• Others engage through social networks such as Facebook, Twitter, the Peacemakers Trust YouTube Channel, or the Peace and Collaborative Development Network.
• Others are less active and prefer to "listen in" from time to time on the activities of the Round Table.

The mission of the Peacemakers' Round Table

The mission of the Peacemakers' Round Table is to provide a Canadian-based international forum for persons interested in advancing scholarship, education and practice in constructive conflict resolution and peacebuilding including mediation, negotiation, dialogue, peacework, human rights protection, good governance, and reconciliation. Activities of the Round Table will depend on the particular interests of those who join and become engaged.

Who may join the Peacemakers' Round Table?

You may request to become part of the Peacemakers' Round Table!

• The board of directors of Peacemakers Trust decided in July 2008 that any individual may become part of the Peacemakers' Round table if they agree with the purposes and methods of Peacemakers Trust and complete an online request form.
  • In 2008 and 2009, there are no other qualifications or expecations of individuals. After January 1, 2010, individuals who give a tax deductable donation to Peacemakers Trust of $25.00 per year will have the option to be part of the Peacemakers' Round Table.
  • As of July 2008, non-governmental bodies, institutions, societies, corporations or businesses may become part of the Peacemakers' Round Table when they donate $100 or more to Peacemakers Trust.
• How to make a request to join the Peacemakers' Round Table.

Are there any benefits of joining the Peacemakers' Round Table?

If you become part of the Peacemakers' Round Table:

• You will receive (if you wish), a listing of your name and contact information (see details below);
• You will also be able to participate in all the activities of the Peacemakers' Round Table and selected activities of Peacemakers Trust.
• You may choose to join The Parley List for announcements of events all over the world (a few messages a week), occasional e-newsletters from Peacemakers Trust and e-mail notification of Peacemakers' Round Table activities and public activities of Peacemakers Trust.

• When you donate $25.00 or more, you will receive a tax receipt (for Canada only) and a listing on the Peacemakers Round Table.
• When you donate $100.00 or more to Peacemakers Trust, you will receive a tax receipt and the option of a listing on the Peacemakers Round Table including a photograph or image, a link to your webpage and a listing as one of our sponsors.
• When you donate $500.00 or more, you will receive a tax receipt, and the option of a listing with photograph and link to your webpage, and a listing as one of our major supporters.
• Institutions, societies, corporations or businesses may become part of the Peacemakers' Round Table when they donate $100 or more, and will receive a tax receipt and the option of a listing with logo or photography and link to your website, and a listing as an institutional sponsor.
• At the present time, no donation is necessary for an individual to become part of the Peacemakers' Round Table. If you wish to join, you may (if you wish) receive a listing of your name, occupation and location.
• If you are under 18 years of age, you are welcome to join the Peacemakers' Round Table but we wait until you are 18 (or your parents/guardians send their written consent) before publishing your information on our public list or accepting your donation.
• Inclusion in the Peacemakers' Round Table means you will have opportunities to interact or become engaged with others through activities of the Round Table, but being part of the Round Table does not imply qualifications as a mediator or peaceworker; and it does not involve formal membership or voting privileges in Peacemakers Trust itself.
• Other benefits and services to the Peacemakers' Round Table may be developed over time (subject to interests of those on the Round Table, the capacity of Peacemakers Trust, and laws/regulations governing Canadian charitable organizations). The board of directors of Peacemakers Trust reserves the right to change qualifications for acceptance to the Peacemakers' Round Table, and may accept or decline any request to join the Peacemakers' Round Table at its discretion. We also reserve the right to decline to publish particular photographs, information about you or any weblink that we consider to be not in keeping with the purposes of the Peacemakers' Round Table.
