Linking theory, education and practice

Peacemakers Trust aims to support research activities toward the creation of publications to be used in education and training in conflict resolution and peacebuilding:

Research Activities, 1999-2008

Conflict Transformation and Peacebuilding: A Selected Bibliography, edited by Catherine Morris. Since 1999 this bibliographic website is visited each day by hundreds of people from all over the world — tens of thousands of visitors a year from more than a hundred countries. Our goal is to increase access to bibliographic reference materials, including annotations and book reviews, for researchers, instructors, students and practitioners in the field of conflict studies internationally. . . . to the on-line bibiography

Theory and Practice: Reflection and Research. Peacemakers Trust is also actively engaged in reflection and research on existing and new ideas and ideology in the field of conflict studies and practice. This research, together with bibliography development, is conducted in tandem with its workshops on "New Directions in the Field of Conflict Resolution." . . . more

Peacebuilding in Cambodia. Peacemakers Trust has been involved in a 2000-2003 research and writing project on the role of religion in peacebuilding in Cambodia in collaboration with the University of Victoria Centre for Studies in Religion and Society and the Institute for Dispute Resolution. As part of this initiative, Peacemakers Trust developed a links page to organizations and resources on peacebuilding in Cambodia, including conflict resolution, non-violence, human rights, legal development, and good governance resources. There is also a suggested introductory reading list for those beginning their studies or preparing for assignments in Cambodia. . . . more

Peacebuilding in Afghanistan: Educational Reconstruction. Peacemakers Trust is developing a list of organizations and a bibliography relevant to educational reconstruction in Afghanistan. . . . more

Legal Development and Dispute Resolution in Bangladesh. Peacemakers Trust is developing a list of organizations and a bibliography on the topics of access to justice in Bangladesh, focusing on legal aid, alternative dispute resolution (ADR) and juvenile justice. These pages were created in 2002 to support the Canadian Bar Association's project on legal reform in Bangladesh, in which Peacemakers Trust director Catherine Morris was involved in the design phase. . . . more

Peacebuilding in Iraq: A Portal to Resources. Peacemakers Trust is developing a list of organizations and a bibliography relevant to peacebuilding in Iraq with current emphasis on humanitarian relief. . . . more

Media, Conflict and Society: Research and Education Resources. Peacemakers Trust is developing resources on the topic of media, conflict and society, including a bibliography, lists of organizations involved in media and peacebuilding, conflict reporting and peace journalism, and lists of journalism schools and journalist organizations. . . . more
